Day Forty-Two

I'm having a hard time describing my screenplay to people when they ask for a brief summary of it, because it's easily the strangest thing I've written (and hopefully the most original).  I guess I could say it's like The Mummy Returns meets Law & Order: SVU or possibly Donnie Darko meets You Can Count On Me.  (I'm only sort of kidding.)

Anyway, I'm almost done with the first draft, and it looks like it's going to end up in the neighborhood of 75 pages. Which is way too short.  In fact, it's the shortest first draft I've ever written.  That's what I get for writing so many 50-60 page TV scripts.  After that, even 75 pages seems insurmountable.  At least this one only took a couple of weeks, whereas my previous two screenplays took several months each.  I think maybe instead of looking at it as an actual draft, I'll look at it as a really long outline for the next draft.
