Day Thirty-Four

As writer's refuges go, the Coffee Bean really beats the hell out of the library.  Even apart from the fact that it's way closer (actual walking distance) than any of the nearest libraries, the CB has a whole slew of other advantages.  One of them, ironically enough, is that it's a lot quieter.  Even more ironically, I find myself less frequently disturbed by cell phones.  Seriously.  At the Beverly Hills library, there's one going off every ten seconds.  And half the time, people actually answer them.  And not just to say "I'm in the library, can't talk, bye," but to have a long, drawn out conversation that they think no one will hear just because they're whispering.  Well, guess what?  When you're the only one in the whole room talking, it really doesn't matter how quiet or loud you are.  Every.  One.  Can.  Hear.  You.

But that doesn't happen at the Coffee Bean.  Plus, their Muzak plays some pretty cool stuff.  That's where I discovered the Chris Isaak song "5:15" which, while basically sounding like every other Chris Isaak song ever made, is really good.

Anyway, gotta get back to writing.  I'm up to page 15, which means just 5 more for today and I can go to bed guilt-free.
