Day Ninety-Two
Yeah, life's pretty good right now. It's 11:30 on a weeknight, I'm just starting up an episode of Rescue Me on the Tivo, I'm making a mix CD with iTunes, and I'm making myself sick with saltwater taffy. Don't know when I'm going to bed, don't care. Ditto getting up tomorrow morning.
But there's that voice in the back of my head -- and by now it's more like the front of my head -- telling me to enjoy it while it lasts, because I've only got a few more days of this. And isn't "enjoy it while it lasts" just one of the most pessimistic phrases we have in our language? As soon as someone tells you that, it's pretty much impossible to enjoy anything.
Still, I'll do my best. I cleaned up the apartment and taught myself to play "Joey" on the piano. (The song by Concrete Blonde, not the theme music for the horrendous-bordering-on-vomit-inducing NBC spinoff.)
