Day Eighty-Nine

On Thursday, I got one of those slips from the Post Office on my door that said they had a package for me but I wasn't there to sign for it. I'm fairly sure that the package contained the Termite-inator, and I'm a little worried about its chances of survival sitting for days on end in a box in the Post Office with no sunlight, water, or bugs to feed on. Granted, the termites have not shown their little faces since I ordered the plant, but that's really not the point here. And annoyingly enough, the slip I got didn't have any information about when they would try to re-deliver the package or if I was supposed to go to the Post Office to pick it up.

As I have said before, this blog will cease to exist (or, at least, cease to be updated) once I begin my job at UCLA. The Unemployment Blog was designed to chronicle a specific (and, thankfully, brief) period in my life, so it makes no sense to continue it once that period is over. However, fear not. My blogging career has just begun. I have already chosen a name and a template for the new blog, and I intend to have some fun with it -- which, hopefully, will translate into fun for the three or four people who read it. Rather than the daily journal format of Unemployment, this one will be more of a variety show kind of blog. In addition to the usual boring-as-hell tidbits from my life, I'll throw in some more musings on our beloved pop culture, as well as some fiction and possibly even some horrendous amateur photography. Stay tuned. In the words of Snoop Dogg's remake of The Jazz Singer, "You ain't seen nothin' yet, bee-yatch!"

when you said you were leaving "the unemployment blog" behind i got very sad. then i looked at the words sitting there on the screen. "the unemployment blog". they were sad too. it seemed this was your rebound relationship and you're just trying to get all us kids excited about your new girlfriend.

well, we won't like her. i will continue to visit the unemployment blog on all holidays.

Karri, the unemployment blog has asked me to pass a message on to you:

Aw, you're sweet. And if it weren't for your linking to me on your page, I'd barely have any readers. But you don't have to worry about me, really. Three months was a good enough run. I was never in this for the long term. Live fast, die young, and leave a great-looking corpse, I always say.
