Unemployed at last!!!

Oh, sweet freedom! Oh, endless days unmarked by a work schedule or any sort of structure! How I longed for your arrival!

Well, my new job starts on Monday. So today is the only day I really get to be unemployed. Thus, I am blogging from bed. And I have no intention of getting up for a looooong time.

The last two weeks have been unbelievable. As it turns out, the day I got laid off, my stock went up. A LOT. I hit every contact in film and TV music that I've been working with over the last nine months, and I was totally floored to hear how many people wanted to work with me, or wanted to help me out.

By the end of Monday, the day I got laid off via a pussy-ass email that didn't even address me directly, I had three interviews. By the end of the following Monday, I had FIVE job offers, including one from my boss who realized what he was giving up and made a half-assed attempt to hire me back.

I ended up accepting an offer to be a music supervisor for a boutique clearance firm that works on big budget ad campaigns. When my new boss told me my title, I almost giggled. Music supervisor!! Those are the people I pitched to! Now people are gonna pitch me! This was the most unexpected thing of all.

In conclusion, my unemployed cohorts, BUILD YOUR NETWORK!! The job you want is probably not posted on monster.com or showbizjobs.com! It's probably not posted anywhere! But chances are, if you know someone who knows someone, and they're happy to have worked with you, they'll want to keep working with you, and they'll want to put you somewhere good.

Now go make a regular paycheck!
