Day Fifty-Five
I spent another hour at the career assistance place today, learning about all the search tools on their website. It wasn't officially part of the two-day seminar, but I went to it mainly because it was scheduled for 11:00 and I needed some reason to get up. The website seminar was fairly boring (the only element worth mentioning was the instructor's use of the phrase "pleased as punch," something I didn't think any human being would ever say unsarcastically), and I'd already done most of the stuff the lady was covering, so I played blackjack on my phone for a good portion of the time.
After I got back I spent a couple hours at Coffee Bean working on the play. I think it might really suck when I finish it, but that's okay -- I'll fix it all with good casting. I'm thinking Jake Gyllenhaal and maybe Anna Paquin. I won't be able to pay them much -- in fact, let's face it, they'll probably have to finance the production -- but all good actors love doing small-scale legitimate theatre, don't they? Don't they want more than anything to be regarded as serious artists?
Oh, and I wasn't able to get out of going to the State of California's "either show up or play chicken with your unemployment" job search session tomorrow, so that's where I'll be at 10:30. Fan-goddamn-tastic. It's in the Marina, so maybe I'll go yacht-shopping afterwards.
