Days Sixty and Sixty-One
Now that I'm only a few pages away from the end of my play (I've heard that one-act plays should be a minimum of about 30 pages, so that's what I'm shooting for), it's getting harder to write. This is pretty much what usually happens... my writing follows a kind of bell-curve pattern and I just keep slowing down more the closer I get to the end. I think maybe that's because in the earlier stages of the writing I actually have the idea that it's going to be good, but by the time I'm almost finished I realize that's not true, and I feel like I have to pull out some incredible literary skills from somewhere in order to salvage a workable final product. Writing is fun, but it also isn't.
Saw Collateral Saturday night with Divaker at the Cinerama Dome, and it pretty much rocked. It's cool to see Tom Cruise play a killer, but even cooler to see Jamie Foxx play someone with an IQ in the positive integers. And it wouldn't be a visit to the Arclight without the obligatory minor celebrity sighting: I saw Illeana Douglas in the lobby before the show, and Joey Slotnick on the way out.
