Day Sixty-Six
Called two UCLA job people to follow up on recent resume submissions, and of course neither of them was in the office. If working for UCLA means you get to be out of there at 3:30 on Friday, I think I need to work harder at getting hired there. I also picked up some videotapes at Best Buy so I can tape every episode of Rescue Me off the Tivo for my mom. I really opened up a can of worms there when I told her it was an awesome show.
The evening's festivities consisted of going to the LACMA for an outdoor showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I got there well before Rossanna and company, and the movie hadn't started yet, so I got to watch a bunch of kids in the front play a convoluted game of "Duck Duck Goose" which was emceed (loudly) by some museum guy. I actually liked the movie a lot better this time than I did the first time I saw it, when I was somewhere around twelve or thirteen. Because, you know, back then I wasn't attuned to the film's complex psychological layering. After the movie we went to Mani's bakery/cafe on Fairfax (there's supposed to be an umlaut over the a in "Mani's" but I don't know how to type that in Blogger) and I had this chocolate raspberry cake that I think is supposed to be somehow healthy (or at least made with all-natural ingredients) but definitely tasted like it was going to give me a heart attack in the near future. And I got to see Rossanna's newly banged-up Volvo, which I decided should totally be on Pimp My Ride.
